Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to convert my PDF here?
Yes, it is 100% secure. The extraction happens entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. Your private documents never leave your device.
How does the tool detect columns and rows?
The tool reads the X and Y coordinates of every word in your PDF. If words are far apart horizontally, it places them into separate columns. If they are on a new vertical line, it creates a new row. This ensures your data maps cleanly into an Excel grid.
What if my PDF is a scan or a screenshot with no selectable text?
The tool automatically detects pages with no usable text layer and falls back to in-browser OCR (optical character recognition) to read the text from the image. This is more computationally intensive, so it's limited to files under 5MB to keep conversion time reasonable. The OCR engine downloads a small, generic language file the first time it runs — this doesn't contain any of your document's content.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not currently. If your PDF requires a password to open, please remove the password protection first using a PDF tool, then upload the unlocked file here.
