Can I edit existing text in the PDF?

No. PDFs store text as positioned glyphs, not editable text boxes. This tool lets you add new text, images, shapes and drawings on top of the existing content, but cannot modify text that is already in the file.

Is it safe to edit private PDFs here?

Does this work on password-protected PDFs?
